Inside Motown’s Golden Machine: The Years That Built Me

Michael B. Sutton

What really happened behind the doors at Motown?

In Inside Motown’s Golden Machine, Michael B. Sutton takes you inside the studio — not as a fan, but as someone who lived it.

Discovered by Stevie Wonder and shaped by Motown’s demanding system, Sutton shares his journey through songwriting sessions, recording rooms, and the lessons that defined his career as a producer, songwriter, and keyboardist — including producing Cinderella Stay Awhile for Michael Jackson.

This isn’t a celebrity tell-all. It’s a masterclass in craft.

Through real stories of growth, rejection, and discipline, he reveals how great records are built — and why talent alone is never enough.

Whether you’re an artist, producer, or music lover, this book offers a rare inside look at the system that turned raw talent into lasting legacy.

Motown didn’t just make hits. It built artists.
